Library Assistant – Part-Time

Chestermere Public Library is looking for a fun, positive customer service expert to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate library loving individual who enjoys working with the public in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

We want creative problem-solvers, people who are willing to try something new, and people that understand that sometimes, we have to roll up our sleeves to make something spectacular happen. Number of hours will vary.

Reporting to Director, the successful candidate must have the following:

  • Enthusiasm about the role of public libraries and the services that we offer
  • Enjoy working with the public
  • Available to work every Saturday
  • Available to work Sundays in Fall and Winter
  • Available to work evening and weekend shifts
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office, Internet, and online databases
  • Able to establish and maintain good working relations with staff and customers
  • Can learn quickly and adapt readily to new procedures and resources
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Able to exercise independent judgment  
  • Able to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, and stand for several hours
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 11.4 kg

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a current Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check
  • Must have Standard First Aid
