Programs

Please note: Children under 8 must have an adult stay in the library during programs.

Join us for a variety of themed crafts, activities, games and more throughout the summer for kids ages 3-12. Each week features a new theme!

The Summer Reading Club Workshops run from July 3rd to August 18th and a FREE library card is required for registration to our workshops. The Summer Reading Program Workshops are presented by TDSRC.

Family Art Bad Portraits Friday July 7th at 1:00PM
           No artist talent needed for this Fun Family Friday. Make your best worst portrait of yourself, or your family in this Fun Family Friday.

 

Family Craft Friday July  14th at 1:00PM
  Join us for a family craft!

 

Magician Christopher Cool  Friday July 14th at 2:00PM
  Christopher Cool the Magician will take our young readers on an adventure with magic, music, storytelling, rubber chickens, bananas, a dinosaur & so much more! This 40-45 minute interactive comedy magic show is perfect for children aged 4-8.

You won’t want this miss this magical Fun Family Friday.
Registration is required for each person attending.

 

Mad Science: All About Animals Friday July 21st at 1:00PM
  Join Mad Science Calgary as they teach all about animals!
Learn about habitats, methods of camouflage, how animals protect themselves, animal tracks and more in this wild Fun Family Friday!
Registration is required.

 

Author Visit from Christina Hatton-Fearnley Friday July 28th at 1:00PM
           Come to the library to meet and listen to a storytime from local author Christina Hatton-Fearnley. Christina writes children’s books including the Lost Photograph, Kevin the Pack Goat, and Girls Can be Farmers Too! 
No registration required.

 

Candy Sushi Friday August 4th at 1:00PM
  Play with your food in this craft made of gummy candies, marshmallows, and Rice Puff Treats to make sushi look-alikes.
Please note: There will be a variety of candies and snacks, please let us know if there are any food allergies.
Registration required.

 

Slime Party Friday August 11th at 1:00PM
  Join us at the library for a hands on Slime Making activity. Add your own custom flair to your slime with a variety of texture or colour additions and take it home at the end of the workshop!
Registration is required.

 

Imagination Play Friday August 18th at 1:00PM
  Let your imagination run wild while playing with our Imagination Playground!
Registration is required.

 

 

Mother Goose By The Lake Wednesdays at 10:15AM to 11:15AM. Ages 0-5
           Join Trellis, Chestermere Public Library, and PCSS in front of the library for songs, play, and snacks on Wednesdays throughout the summer. This program runs from July 12th to August 16th for ages 0-5. Enjoy a take-home craft kit and resources each week. Registration required.

Drop in Baby Storytime Fridays at 10:15AM Age 0-18 Months
  Baby Storytime is for parents, caregivers, and babies 0-18 months. There’s books, songs, reading, and playing. This is a great program for new parents and caregivers to interact with others, and stay after for our Bibs, Burps, and Breaks.

No Registration is required.

Marigold Teen Summer Reading Program Ages 12-17

  Each year, our library system Marigold puts on a teen summer reading challenge.
Read books, participate in the activities, and earn your chance to win big prizes throughout the summer.

Adult Summer Reading Program All Summer Long

           Visiting the library pays off this summer! Each time you visit the library, ask the front desk  for a ballot for a chance to win one of our adult prize baskets. Participating in our adult
crafts will also gain you an extra ballot.

Bibs, Burps, and Breaks Fridays at 10:45AM

  Join us after Baby Storytime for some time to chat with other new parents and caregivers in the community. Children are welcome to play as parents and caregivers chat.
We will have refreshments and snacks available.  No registration is required.

Macrame Feathers Tuesday August 1st

Keep your summer creativity flowing and learn how to make beautiful macramé feathers. These make great wall hangings, key chains, features for mobiles or
shadow boxes, library bag/purse accessories, and more!

Library Board Meeting Monday June 19th at 7:00PM

  Get involved in the library and join our library board for their meeting. These meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend. The library board has 9 meetings
throughout the year and have a break during the summer.

 

Summer Kick off Saturday June 17 from 10:00AM - 2:00PM

         TDSRC is back at the library. Join us for our summer kickoff,
for a variety of activities, crafts, and games! Registration for our
summer reading program will be officially open on June 17th
so be sure to check on our website as we get closer to the date for a schedule of events and more.

Baby Chicks Visit Wednesday June 21st at 10:30AM. Ages 0-6
  Get ready for an egg-citing visit from the baby chicks at the library! 
There will be a presentation on the baby chicks and their hatching process.
No registration is required.

 

Check Out the Fossils Thursday August 3rd from 4:00PM - 5:00PM. Ages 6-12
  Join us for a storytime and a roarsome dinosaur dig where participants will use tools to dig for dinos and
investigate how the fossils got there based off of
environmental clues!

Mindful Readers Mondays from 10:30AM—11:30AM. Ages 5-10.

           Join MHCB, Stepping Stones to Mental Health, and the Chestermere Public Library in-person for a FREE drop-in mindfulness program for caregivers and children ages 5 - 10. Each week will be a new mindfulness story and activity.
Runs Mondays from July 10th to August 14th at the library.

 

Community Pop Up Days Last Sunday of Each Month at 11:00AM –3:00PM

  Bring your family and friends to John Peake Park for a fun Sunday featuring local
organizations, food trucks, market vendors, and more on the last Sunday of each month
this summer!
We will be at each Community Pop Up Day with our book bike.
